Soil Health in Cotton Cultivation

The Department for Soil Conservation and Sustainable Agriculture brings together multiple functions under a single organizational framework, with a primary focus on advancing conservation agriculture. The department provides professional support in soil conservation and runoff management, oversees financial support programs, and serves as a national knowledge hub for soil surveys and classification, offering comprehensive data on Israeli soils and their characteristics.

Operating through five regional soil conservation units, the department provides direct assistance to farmers, ensuring the implementation of sustainable practices. Additionally, it supervises 11 watershed drainage authorities, playing a crucial role in flood damage mitigation. By integrating research, practical field support, and regulatory oversight, the department promotes sustainable soil and water management across Israeli agriculture.

Ilan Ladel, Senior Coordinator for Conservation Agriculture, is a recognized expert with extensive experience in planning and implementing sustainable agricultural solutions. His work focuses on designing and applying soil health conservation systems, alongside intensive field collaboration with farmers across Israel, ensuring the practical adoption of conservation practices.
